Faith-Michael Uzoka
President and Board Member
Dr. Faith-Michael Uzoka is currently a professor of computing at Mount Royal University (MRU), Calgary. He is also a Chartered Director, and an accomplished scholar with over 110 academic publications that have made international impacts in various aspects of human endeavor, especially in medical decision support systems. He has developed award winning innovations; e.g., automatic pill dispenser, smart medical assistant, and a system for the early differential diagnosis of tropical confusable diseases.
He served as a Canadian Commonwealth Scholar, Carnegie African Diaspora Fellow, and Senior Advisor – External Relations (Shell Petroleum Development Company). He is a co-founder of Cambrooks College, Calgary, and also Novena Systems & Technologies Inc, Calgary. He also sits on the Alberta Power and Natural Gas Consumer’s Panel. At MRU, he has contributed to the development of a culturally diverse and inclusive workplace for both employees and students. He places high premium on the value of EDI in governance and community relations, and sits on the President’s Advisory Committee on EDI at MRU.
He received the inaugural Alberta Newcomers Award for Inclusive Workplaces, and also, the Queen’s Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal.
Rose Ondieki
Vice President
Originally from Kenya, is a Disability Services professional. She currently works as a case manager, supporting persons with developmental disabilities to live a holistic and meaningful life.
Before relocating to Calgary in 2004, Rose completed her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in the USA. Rose is a committed community volunteer who has been involved in delivering mandates for various grassroots organizations. She enjoys reading with children, organizing educational programs, and being a mentor to the youth.
Jean-Pascal Siewe
Secretary and Member of the Board
Jean-Pascal (“JP”) is a French-speaking lawyer/Mediator for the Government of Alberta based in Calgary. He has been a member of Africa Coalition for three years now, and he hopes to bring his experience and skills to bear in the Coalition’s thrust to improve the lot of Africans in Alberta.
His ambition is to bring the African Community in Calgary specifically, and Alberta generally, into contention. A volunteer in multiple capacities for over 12 years, JP is also on the Boards and Committees of other organizations and Associations in Alberta.
Ezenwa Echefu
Chief Financial Officer
Ezenwa Echefu’s career as a professional accountant spans over 28 years in 3 continents (Africa, Europe and North America). He holds a B.Sc in Accounting from University of Port Harcourt and MBA from Warwick University in UK. A Chartered Accountant in Canada with CPA CMA, a Fellow (FCA) of the Institute of Chartered Accounts of Nigeria (ICAN) and a Chartered Manager (CMgr MCMI) with UK Chartered Management Institute.
He once served as a member of Joint Interest Research Committee of Energy Accountants Society of Canada (EASC), volunteers for CPA Financial literacy, Community Ambassadors, Tax clinic and Mentorship groups. He currently serves as the Treasurer of Springbank Hill Community Association, board member of Springbank Hill Home owners association and Treasurer Nigerian Canadian Association of Calgary.
Jane Eruchalu
Public Relations Officer
Jane Eruchalu is the Executive Vice President production & operations of MOJEK Resources Inc. A versatile professional Petroleum Engineer with 25years experience in oil and gas operations in Nigeria, Norway, Netherlands, and Canada. Jane is the vice president of Women of vision society of Alberta and Calgary chapter leader of Black kids (girls) code program. She played an active role as one of the Executive members of NCAC (Nigeria Canadian Association of Calgary) for 6 years.
In 2018, Jane was a Finalist in Entrepreneurship and Innovation award category at the 22nd Annual Immigrants of Distinction Awards (IDA) in Canada. Jane is actively involved in the community and has served on various board and committees. Jane holds a B.Eng. in Petroleum Engineering and M.Sc. in Petroleum Engineering from Norwegian University of Science and Technology-NTNU. She co-authored a patent on use of electrical heating element for SAGD start -up.
